In the body of CBC, in the wake of these players these people, I found myself able to operate, or for the first time, able to operate with intention of wading through noise and act with an unwavering focus. it seems impossible, for me, to act with unwavering focus and also put on, a smiling and welcoming face. But not to say a welcoming and accepting nature cannot be found without putting on that sort of face. I find the attitude of community that gathers those who work and focus together, is the more attractive and sought out version of community, and brings upon the same attitude and paralleled ideals of acceptance and welcoming nature, the condition being one extra step of ambition and vision.

Yes, what I realized is that I don’t see myself in CBC, but I do find myself there. I do not see one like me, who I see myself as, in the group of people at CBC, but I find myself there. I have found who I feel is the best me, there. And it was after this season of CBC where I found members who were like me, that in a way spoiled me into fixating on holding on to same-ness rather than what CBC as a whole provided. What is more important? It begs the question.

Would I rather see me myself the group, or would I rather be myself in the group?

CBC does not abide by the rules, if you win, you keep playing, and if you lose, you’re out. I fear I still see it, that losing is necessary. It can be said, CBC is filled with losing accepted, no consequences for mistakes, even in constructive manor, and no reward for the winning or feeling of achievement that leads to next and greater things (I wonder, does Living Skin subvert this? Probably not).

How can basketball save the world? There is a way of playing, a culture around the game, attitude found on and off the court that deeply reflects growth, relations, maturity, about the people playing, and even how society responds to those people. And all the moments in playing, the dynamics of winning and losing, each play, each interaction between 2 players, coaches, audience, team members, can be potentially synonymized with an amalgamation of all world views in one.
