Future Sound of London

Future Sound of London changed my life.

what is it about the future sound of london, buggy g riphead, half life 2 & source engine, that sits in such an envelope of space and transcends the decades?

a carefully marriaged balance of silver cyberworlds and well-trodden back roads of an empty european village. so much flavor and richness found in both riphead’s work, sounds of FSOL, and the half life 2 environment, all somehow so colorful and tasteful through their seemingly bleak and rustic atmosphere. the ambiance and surrealism found in these works are so tempting, even though they so clearly oppose what we know to be a reflection of reality. buggy reaches into the depths of space and time to allow for the emergence of his art, only possible with a fundamental understanding of 3d and graphical composition. half life 2 paints its picture of dystopia in piercing character design and language throughout, immediately establishing a culture of interaction surely not universal, but independently bound to this specific place in the alternate realities. FSOL stitches colors with gaze, fabrics with movement, questions with addiction.
