Rebel Moon
a masterclass in debauchery. my my. a dhar mann type script for 90% of the film. everything in this film is force-fed with unappealing instruction.no class, no sensibility, no sign of a single line that resembled life, will, consciousness, or complexity. no importance or weight placed on 95% of the characters, and I felt no emotional resonance with any of them.
No commentary on rule or politics, the totality of the plot’s strength completely reliant on the digestion of other successful science fiction stories. Every action of choreography clearly predictable, no tension, nothing keeping me from getting up and going to the restroom.
cool, minor sci-fi concepts, lines, designs picked up along the way. nothing else worthy of watching.
most interesting parts of film ignored.
- swordsman character and planet
- priests, religious figures of bad guys
- “world killing” dangers of ship
- afterworld
- “the robot”
